King recommends thinking about the things you use on a daily basis (like your car, kitchen appliances, or phone) and imagining what life would be like without them. What would happen if you didn\u2019t have that thing? For example, if you didn\u2019t have an oven or stove, you would spend hours gathering wood, building a fire, and waiting for your food to slowly cook. Consider these things and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/how-to-always-be-grateful-for-what-you-have\/\">be grateful for what you have<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-gratefulness-should-extend-to-people-and-the-future\"><strong>Gratefulness Should Extend to People and the Future<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/shortform.com\/app\/book\/you-are-a-badass\"><em>You Are a Badass<\/em><\/a>, Jen Sincero elaborates on the impact that gratitude can have on your life. She explains that not only should we be grateful for where we are and what we have, but <a href=\"https:\/\/shortform.com\/app\/book\/you-are-a-badass\/chapter-14#tips-on-practicing-gratitude\">we should be grateful for <em>who<\/em> we have and what we <em>don\u2019t yet have<\/em> as well<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you show gratitude to the people you appreciate in your life, you feel great for giving thanks, they feel great for being appreciated, and then you feel great again for making them feel great\u2014it\u2019s an endless cycle of good feelings.
