To live out this purpose, it&#8217;s helpful to understand what true worship is and how to worship God in practical ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read more to learn what it means to be created to worship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You Were Created to Worship<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your first purpose is <em>worship<\/em>\u2014bringing pleasure to God.<strong> <\/strong>Worship doesn\u2019t only happen when you\u2019re in church.<strong> It\u2019s a <em>lifestyle<\/em> that centers on making God happy.&nbsp;<\/strong>Because you were created to worship, it should be a central aspect of your life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Makes True Worship?&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Before thinking about ways that you might worship God, ensure that the acts you engage in are <em>true<\/em> worship. True worship has four elements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1) Accuracy:<\/strong> Be sure you\u2019re not worshipping an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/what-is-your-image-of-god\/\">image of God<\/a> that you came up with yourself\u2014in that case, you\u2019re worshipping your own imagination or opinion. Instead, worship whom you <em>know God to be <\/em>by the truths outlined in Scripture. For example, \u201cI think of God as someone who\u2019d be understanding about <em>some<\/em> sins,\u201d is false worship. On the other hand, \u201cI worship God, who is just,\u201d is true worship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2) Authenticity: <\/strong>Because you were created to worship, true worship should be a natural, authentic outpouring of your heart. Worship that\u2019s emotionless or insincere doesn\u2019t please God. He wants you to express your worship with passion and authenticity. Many people think they <em>should<\/em> engage in traditional worship, but this leads to many believers just going through the motions. Instead, show your love for God in a way that feels good to you\u2014the Bible suggests varied forms of worship including song, dance, confession, playing instruments, and shouting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3) Thoughtfulness: <\/strong>Engage your mind meaningfully with your worship by looking for new and interesting ways to praise God such as:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Reading different translations of the Bible, or finding synonyms for overused words.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Being <em>specific<\/em> with your praises, instead of generalizing your thanks. For example, \u201cI thank you for the interesting conversation I had with my neighbor today.\u201d&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4) Presence<\/strong>: You can be in only one place at once. God wants you to plan around\u2014and show up physically for\u2014worship instead of sticking to your own schedule and using an easy cop-out such as, \u201cI\u2019ll be there in spirit!\u201d You were created to worship, so worship shouldn&#8217;t be treated as just an accessory to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Five Everyday Acts of Worship&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are five <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/acts-of-worship\/\">acts of worship<\/a> that\u2014when practiced genuinely\u2014make God happy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Act #1: Love Him Absolutely<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>God\u2019s greatest desire is for you to love him in the same way that he loves you.<\/strong> You should think of him as your closest, most loyal friend\u2014you\u2019re in regular contact, know all about one another, and trust him completely.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To deepen your friendship with God, include him in everything you do by having ongoing conversations with him in your mind and meditating on his Word as you go about your day. When talking to him, commit to total honesty\u2014voicing your displeasure with him when it arises.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Act #2 and Act #3: Trust and Obey Him Completely<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>God wants you to trust and obey him <\/strong><strong><em>completely. <\/em><\/strong>This can be difficult, as you may think that you know what\u2019s best for you, but remember that God has known you since before your birth. He knows best and feels happiest when you demonstrate your absolute faith in him. You know your trust and obedience are complete when:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You do <em>exactly <\/em>what\u2019s asked of you. You don\u2019t neglect any part of God\u2019s instruction, and you do it precisely in the manner he wants.&nbsp;<\/li><li>You trust and obey <em>without hesitation. <\/em>You don\u2019t question God or deliberate about what to do\u2014you act first and then reflect. Often, you\u2019ll find that there was no way to understand God\u2019s instructions until you did as he asked.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Because you were created to worship, it makes sense to trust and obey the one who created you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Act #4: Thank Him Regularly<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Regularly express your gratitude with authenticity and accuracy\u2014throughout your day, thank God for <em>who<\/em> <em>he is<\/em> and thank him for specific gifts or opportunities he\u2019s granted you. For example, you might express gratitude for specific miracles described in the Bible, or start your morning by telling him a list of the small joys of your life you\u2019re grateful for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Act #5: Use Your Abilities Earnestly<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You were created to worship. Every time God sees his creations doing what he designed them to do, he feels pleasure. <em>Everything <\/em>you do can be an act of worship, as long as you\u2019re doing it with an attitude of praise. For example, going for a jog can be an act of worship if you remind yourself, \u201cI\u2019m grateful that God gave me the ability to use my body in this way.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What does it mean to be created to worship?
