Like cogs in a clock, every part of a system needs to be running at its best to keep the whole system going; in a workplace, people are the cogs, and everyone needs feedback to improve their performance for the sake of the whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Managers must be good at both giving feedback and receiving it.<\/strong> It makes a difference in how successful a workplace is. The better you are at giving feedback and receiving it yourself, the more satisfied and more productive your employees will be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/how-to-give-feedback-work\/\">Read this to learn how to give feedback<\/a>, but we&#8217;ll discuss <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/how-to-receive-feedback\/\">how to receive feedback<\/a> here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Receive Feedback at Work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some approaches for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/receiving-feedback\/\">receiving feedback<\/a> and criticism to the best results:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Good feedback helps you get better.<\/strong> Try not to see criticism as a personal attack, but as an act of caring designed to help you improve.<\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/accepting-responsibility\/\">Take responsibility<\/a>. <\/strong>It\u2019s easy to get defensive when we perceive that we\u2019re being attacked. If you feel the criticism is unfair, you can express that&#8211;but if you find yourself <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/stop-making-excuses\/\">making excuses<\/a>, try to pause and listen to what your manager is saying first, before you launch into defending yourself. If your manager is capable of giving good feedback, she has probably identified something you know you struggle with. Accept responsibility for your mistakes and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/how-to-inspire-yourself\/\">motivate yourself<\/a> to learn how to correct them.<\/li><li><strong>Feedback is an opportunity to work <\/strong><strong><em>with<\/em><\/strong><strong> your manager towards improvement.<\/strong> Criticism should be a cooperative endeavor.
