Learn what emotion you&#8217;re feeling now, with our list of options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>As you become more self-aware of your emotions, you\u2019ll discover that what once felt like anger might actually be a different, subtler feeling. Part of knowing your emotions is <strong>increasing your emotional vocabulary-<\/strong>-words you use to specifically identify what you\u2019re feeling. Goleman provides some useful words to increase your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/emotional-granularity\/\">emotional vocabulary<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Anger could also be: outrage, exasperation, annoyance, or violence.<\/li><li>Sadness could also be: cheerlessness, self-pity, or despair.<\/li><li>Fear could also be: concern, misgiving, or edginess.<\/li><li>Enjoyment could also be: relief, pride, sensual pleasure, or mania.<\/li><li>Love could also be: acceptance, trust, or kindness.<\/li><li>Surprise could also be: shock, amazement, or wonder.<\/li><li>Disgust could also be: contempt or disdain.<\/li><li>Shame could also be: guilt, humiliation, or contrition.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There are obviously more emotions than listed here, but this is a good starting place to start to expand your emotional vocabulary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another good way to figure out what emotion you&#8217;re feeling is to figure out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/physiology-of-emotions-anger\/\">how your body is changing its physiology<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are a lot of emotions you can feel, and it can be unclear what you&#8217;re feeling.
