He lists a number of possible dangers: AI could surpass human intelligence, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/magazine\/2023\/11\/20\/geoffrey-hinton-profile-ai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">develop its own goals<\/a>, learn unexpected behaviors from the vast datasets it analyzes, or be misused for malicious purposes, like manipulating elections or fighting wars.<br><br>Hinton advocates <a href=\"https:\/\/venturebeat.com\/ai\/ai-safety-showdown-yann-lecun-slams-californias-sb-1047-as-geoffrey-hinton-backs-new-regulations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">international regulation<\/a> to address these risks.
