Random mutations can lead to changes in the physical characteristics (known as the phenotype) of an organism, such as differences in appearance, structure, or the function of body parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Dennett, these changes are not guided by any intelligence or purpose; instead, they happen purely by chance.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most Mutations Are Insignificant or Harmful<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

If these rabbits live in an area with snowy winters, this mutation will help them blend in during those months. Because it helps them survive, the mutation will be passed down to future generations.
