Olsen argues that building an MVP is the fastest and cheapest way to test your hypotheses and gather feedback on your product design. Osterwalder and Pigneur suggest you consider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/app\/book\/business-model-generation\/the-business-model-template#part-2-your-infrastructure\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">four categories of resources<\/a>:<br><br>\u2022 <strong>Material<\/strong>\u2014such as raw materials, buildings, factories, vehicles, and machinery<br>\u2022 <strong>Monetary<\/strong>\u2014such as cash, credit, and stock options<br>\u2022 <strong>Intellectual<\/strong>\u2014such as brand equity, copyrights, patents, and knowledge databases<br>\u2022 <strong>Human<\/strong>\u2014such as experienced staff members and specialists<br><br>Once you\u2019ve identified all of the necessary resources, estimate your expenses. Osterwalder and Pigneur state that your expenses will include at least one of the following characteristics:<br><br>\u2022 <strong>Fixed costs<\/strong>\u2014costs that don\u2019t change regardless of the production volume (such as rent or salaries)<br>\u2022 <strong>Variable costs<\/strong>\u2014expenses that change depending on your level of production (such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/v\/variablecost.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">raw materials, packaging, direct labor, and distribution costs<\/a>)<br>\u2022 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/advantages-of-economies-of-scale\/\">Economies of scale<\/a><\/strong>\u2014reductions in the cost per units of a product as your production volume increases<br>\u2022 <strong>Economies of scope<\/strong>\u2014reductions in the cost of a single resource or activity when you use it for multiple operations or services<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Olsen writes that you should greenlight features with high ROI for your MVP: ones that satisfy all essential needs, the top performance need, and the top bonus need from your value proposition.
