Further, Tracy says you should <a href=\"https:\/\/shortform.com\/app\/book\/goals\/1-page-summary#step-9-build-connections-with-the-right-people\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">intentionally network in three areas<\/a> to most effectively expedite your success: within your business (co-workers, bosses, customers, and so on), within your industry (people in other organizations within the industry), and at home (with loved ones who support you).)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-failing-to-utilize-social-networks-the-solutions\">Failing to Utilize Social Networks: The Solutions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The authors provide a few solutions to help women effectively utilize their social networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. When building contacts, remember to be intentional. <\/strong>The authors explain that you should form <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/professional-contacts\/\">professional contacts<\/a> with those you can have a mutually <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shortform.com\/blog\/beneficial-relationship\/\">beneficial relationship<\/a> with. Make connections with people who have something to offer you and who you can offer something to in return. You don\u2019t have to feel strongly about<em> <\/em>the person to make them a contact, you just have to get along and offer mutual benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Shortform note: Intentionally selecting who to network with may still make you feel insincere and manipulative. Let go of binary thinking. <\/strong>Overcome the belief that utilizing contacts for personal gain is manipulative by acknowledging that things aren\u2019t black and white\u2014just because you\u2019re asking a contact for help with a specific topic doesn\u2019t mean you devalue the rest of their abilities or personality.
