SHORTFORM LAUNCHES EMBEDDABLE WIDGET FOR VJ CURATED VIDEO CHANNELS
Bloggers and Publishers Bring Continuous Video Channels to Their Audience
February 22, 2011—(SAN FRANCISCO)—ShortForm, the social entertainment video property that delivers continuous channels of the best videos from anywhere on the web curated by a growing community of VJs, announced today the launch of an embeddable widget for bloggers and publishers. The ShortForm widget brings bloggers and publishers relevant video content that is curated from the explosion in available video, increasing time on site and monetization potential by keeping viewers engaged on their property.
Bloggers and publishers can choose from the hundreds of curated channels on ShortForm.com or curate a new channel that is tailored specifically for their property. Curation of channels is simple, and bloggers can curate new channels in a few minutes by importing favorite videos from YouTube and Facebook, or adding videos through URLs, and then mixing and arranging them into a playlist for their channel. In most cases, embedding the widget is as simple as copying and pasting an embed code on their property.
The ShortForm widget contains a viewing screen that will play a channel in a continuous stream. The audience can watch the stream of videos, or navigate to other videos by hitting a next button or clicking on specific thumbnails of videos. ShortForm is launching the widget in both 400 and 200 pixel wide versions.
"Since our launch in November, we've seen a growing community of VJs curate and promote their ShortForm channels, bringing in over 100K visitors to ShortForm.com in January. We heard from countless bloggers and publishers that they wanted to bring the unique entertainment experience of ShortForm channels to their own sites," said Nader Ghaffari, CEO, ShortForm. "We listened and are proud to unveil the first-to-market embeddable widget that plays continuous curated videos."
"The ShortForm widget offers a new way for me to get science out to my audience," said award-winning science writer David Bradley. "By offering curated videos in this format I can complement the written posts on my science blog, www.sciencebase.com/science-blog/science-video-channel. The widget will be useful to readers and hopefully keep them coming back for more science news and videos."
In addition to sciencebase.com, the ShortForm widget has been adopted by numerous sites covering a wide range of subjects, including www.ducatinewstoday.com, www.flakasoft.com/resources, www.momswithapps.com, www.peternity.com, www.thedeadhub.com, www.thegarageblog.com and www.writingtravel.com.
